Challenge
Most news aggregators either have no editorial stance controls or add them as an afterthought. The goal was a provenance-aware system with neutrality and freshness logic built into the architecture, not bolted on later.
Approach
Built a harvesting pipeline covering a broad range of sources with provenance metadata tracked from the start. Designed ranking to weight freshness and source diversity. Built governance controls into the pipeline rather than the frontend.
What was delivered
A working aggregation engine with provenance-aware ranking, configurable freshness windows and editorial governance controls. The architecture is designed to be extended without dismantling the neutrality logic.
Outcome
A news product where the fairness and freshness properties are structural, not cosmetic. The governance controls give editors meaningful levers without requiring them to override the pipeline manually.
